What is Clairvoyance and How Does it Work?

When approaching the topic of Clairvoyance I find that currently the understanding of Clairvoyance is relatively clear, but yet rather limited by each source to their comfort of use. Clairvoyance, Clear Sight, can be used in many states (awake, asleep, meditating, on accident, etc) but is not limited to any single one. It is only one thing however, the ability to clearly see information/energy that exists, without any necessary relativity to time/space.

Types of Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance has four different forms of use as far as is understood, Telesthesia (seeing current events at a great distance, This is the most commonly spoken of form of Clairvoyance), Precognition (seeing the evolution and unfolding of future events into a specific frame of time, seeing the future), Retrocognition (seeing the past), and the last form, seeing the energies around a person or in your immediate visibility which may fall under definition of Synesthesia.

Clairvoyance Explained

There are in fact many other Clair abilities however, beyond simply Clairvoyance. The truth of the matter is that Clair abilities are simply the ability to directly interpret information from the energy around you, and as all energy is/can-be connected to any/all other energy, directly interpret information from anywhere/any-time. Depending upon the information gathered and the sense used to distinguish it accurately, it is given a different designation. It is important to remember this, to not confuse other abilities with Clairvoyance.

The Clair Senses

At their root, all Clair abilities stem from ESP (as do many other abilities) or Extra-Sensory Perception. This is the ability to be aware of our personal fields of energy and their interactions with external energies. Each Clair is the mind directly creating sensory input from these fields, interpreted into relatable information through one of the senses (of which we have far more than the 5 we often hear of.

Upwards of 80 or more separate senses have been found, studied and/or theorized in human beings). We only currently have names for the Clairs directly relating to the five primary senses, and two for concepts of intellect (awareness and understanding, sentience and cognizance).

Clairvoyant Sight

The face of the matter is of course interesting, but I feel a better look into the details of how it all works may help those seeking answers a bit more in terms of truly understanding. Clairvoyance is in fact heavily entwined with the sense of sight, but where it gets interesting is in how it is related to sight.

For three of the four ways it exhibits, Clairvoyance doesn’t actually interfere with or interact with our eyes at all (although admittedly one can become dazed and unaware of their surroundings if the vision becomes too much of their focus).

Clairvoyance and the Pineal Gland

In the brain we have a gland that is responsible for rendering visual information both from and into thought.  When you build a picture in your mind, recall an outfit someone was wearing or the layout of a room you were in, focus on an object in your direct visual field until all other visual stimuli fades from your awareness, or use clairvoyance… you are putting use to this gland.

As with anything in the brain, due to neuroplasticity,  the more you activate this part of the brain the more permanent its structure becomes, the more detailed and larger it becomes, and the more efficient its processes become (switching from a temporary chemical boost in processing capacity to a permanent structural efficiency increase).

This all of course sounds a bit boring at face value, but when you let the realization sink in that this means to strengthen the part of your brain that clairvoyance uses is literally as easy as being able to picture what your friend wore yesterday I promise the information becomes more exciting.

Developing Clairvoyance

Strengthening or gaining abilities of this nature is far easier than people like to make it sound. There are two sides in approaching strengthening or gaining them, the mind and the body. Gaining active control of your awareness and expanding your awareness through meditation, and knowing which sense (or brain region) the Clair you have or are seeking is tied into and strengthening the region of the brain it is tied into, through mundane activity that also draws on that region (visualization for Clairvoyance, which again is as easy as picturing the inside of your bedroom or the outfit your neighbor was wearing yesterday morning on your way out the door to work).  

Approaching Clairvoyance Exercises

There are of course tons of different practices and exercises our there geared specifically towards Clairvoyance’s different forms (For example, “guessing” shapes on cards as they are drawn from a deck for precognition), but in my opinion they are more useful as a cross between a confidence builder and an accuracy check than they are for strengthening the ability early in or gaining it altogether (taking into consideration that for most people any lack of accuracy can be a point of frustration and a deterrent from continuing practice, as well as potentially a confidence breaker).

My hope in this is that, armed with more clear information, you can strengthen or awaken your gifts with nothing but what is already there and more accurately decide what practices to use for yourself and why. I will however be addressing practices and exercises to strengthen these abilities in another article soon.
